Well, that wasn't so bad...

We got to the hospital at like 7:15 - fifteen minutes early! That is unheard of in the Sloan family.  They started paperwork and changing into robe and stuff as soon as I got there.  Then we met with the anesthesiologist and he told us about the nerve block.  And the possible side effects: Death! Seizure! Etc!
Eventually they got the IV in and gave me some sedation. Yay!  Then they did the block! Weird! Very, very weird.  Over an hour, my leg got totally numb.  Finally, we were ready.  I went in for surgery.  A different anesthesiologist chit chatted with me and then I fell asleep!  Then I woke up, and got sore from laying on my side.  I went into recovery, slept, and then got ready to go home!
I've been watching TV and snoozing.  My block is wearing off, and I took two pain killers.  It kind of hurts.  My splint is HUGE.  I had no idea my foot was so heavy.  Crutching is like a work out.  I also have to take ten deep breaths an hour to make sure I don't get pneumonia!  Sheesh!
Now starting an Arrested Development marathon!  Any bets on when I'll be done with all three seasons?

Some Preliminary Ankle Pictures

This is what happened to my ankle when I sprained it!

This is the laxity test that my doctor did to my ankle.  It wiggles a lot! Try it on your own ankle! Probably not too much wiggle, huh?

^This is what all of our ankles should look like.

last night with movement

I'm spending my last mobile night watching Thursday night TV, which is just a preview of the next two weeks!  I should be jumping on a trampoline or doing a Skip-It or something that involves strenuous use of my "bad" ankle, but, come on - LOST.  I also don't have a trampoline.  I think i do have a Skip-It, though.

Mike said I should start a blog.  Maybe I will post pictures of the "thirty pounds of meat hanging off my hip."  I'm worried about freaking out when I can't feel my leg.  In general, I'm worried about freaking out.  I wish my mom could come with the whole time.  Or Mike!  I'd like that.  Agh, I miss I miss I hurt!

I'm almost done with Lolita.  It is so good.  I think I'll be done by Saturday, assuming I don't feel like reading tomorrow.  Then I'm going to read the two books I took from Mike.  When I came home from Bloomington, I was wearing a yellow sweatshirt and it completely matched the Miranda July book.  So dorky!

I hope that they do the right ankle.
